Annual Program of Special Events

First Saturdays - First Saturday of each month, February - December. Enjoy free museum admission, activities or entertainment. Hosted by members of the CCHS Board of Trustees. Experience offering varies each month. 

CCHS Member Exhibit Preview Receptions - We have several new and reimagined exhibit experiences on the horizon at both museum locations! CCHS Members will have the special opportunity to preview our new exhibits the evening before they open to the public while enjoying light refreshments and conversation. Become a CCHS member today to enjoy exhibit preview benefits, discounts on select special events and more! 

 

CCHS Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon- Offered annually in April during Volunteer Appreciation Month. Location and experience varies each year. CCHS celebrates our dedicated volunteers and welcomes new volunteers. Lunch and entertainment are provided. Become a CCHS volunteer today to receive an invitation to this free event!

Cass County Legacy Speakers - Cass County history lessons shared by historians, authors and other talented speakers. Location and themes vary, with multiple experience opportunities presented each year. Provided free to the public by local sponsors. Videos of past Cass County Legacy Speaker events will soon be available to view on the society website and YouTube page (coming soon). To suggest a specific topic or speaker please email

Haunted History - Returning at Long Home Museum in October 2024! 

Home for the Holidays - Experience the grandeur of the Long Home Museum & Cabin fully decorated for the holidays November through December. Generous support  for Home for the Holidays 2023 was provided by the Cass County Visitor's Bureau and First Farmers Bank & Trust.

 

 

A series of festive special events are offered during Home for the Holidays:

  • First Saturday November  is when we light up the Long Home Museum property with thousands of sparkling lights. Enjoy the debut of our beautifully decorated Italianate home, take holiday photos with family and friends, enjoy festive music and browse the holiday offerings in our gift shop. 

  • Extra Hours are provided on select days in November and December so guests may enjoy the lights, décor and exhibits after work or school. ​​

  • First Saturday December Santa comes to town, greeting visitors for photos and treats in the Parlor.

CCHS Annual Meeting -  Held annually on the first Thursday in December. Join CCHS Board of Trustees and staff for our annual public meeting where we share year-end society news, announce campaign goals for the new year and elect new trustees and officers. Enjoy food and entertainment while celebrating our organization's bright future.
